THE DST Super League returns next week with three matches after a month long Ramadhan and Hari Raya break.
The long break can be both a blessing and a curse for teams, potentially halting momentum if results and confidence are positive - or stopping a freefall if all is not well.
The Brunei Times is looking at several matches that could affect movements in the table as well as matches and encounters to look forward to.
IKLS FC will face Lun Bawang first next Saturday at the Berakas Sports Complex followed by another two matches on the next day.
Tabuan Muda (national Under-23 team) will go up against Wijaya FC at the Tutong Sports Complex while defending champions Indera Sports Club (SC) will play resurgent Jerudong FC at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
Indera SC could replace Najip I-Team at the top of the table on goal difference should they beat fifth-place Jerudong FC.
Najip I-Team, the only team to complete the first round of the tournament, currently leads the 10-team table league with 18 points after six wins and three losses.
Meanwhile, second-placed Indera SC, the team with a 100 per cent win record - with the other being Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) in third place - now have 15 points from five games.
The other end of the table has bottom dwellers Kilanas FC still looking for their first points in the league after losing all their eight matches.
Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB) also face a rough time - sitting second last with four points after one win, one draw and four defeats.
Kilanas FC will only take the field on August 17 against MS PDB and the policemen have to face Wijaya FC on August 7 before that.
Wijaya FC, who are currently fourth in the league with 12 points, will be able to overtake MS ABDB in third if they beat Tabuan Muda with five goals margin.
Tabuan Muda - who represented the country at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore last month - currently sit sixth in the league with 10 points.
DST Super League newcomers, eight-placed Lun Bawang (four points) and seventh-place IKLS FC (six points) will meet for the first time after being promoted from the DST Premier League.
Lun Bawang could replace IKLS FC in seventh place if they get the three points.
The DST Premier League will also resume next week with two matches.
Panchor Murai FC will go up against Menglait FC next Saturday at the Balapan Track and Field while Perkasa FC will face Rimba Star FC at the Berakas Sports Complex on the next day.
League leaders Kota Rangers FC with 22 points is only win away from lifting the title with two matches left to play. Their closest challenger Tabuan Muda (national under-18 teams) is second with 21 points with only one game left.
Kota Rangers FC will face Perkasa FC on August 7 and Tabuan Muda on August 12.
