The Brunei Darussalam national football team were held to a 1-1 draw by Brunei Super League (BSL) All Stars in a friendly match held at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex on Tuesday night.

The national team took the lead in the 21st minute after forward Razimie Ramlli powered home a firm header in the near post following a corner from his DPMM FC teammate Azwan
Ali Rahman.

The Wasps looked for a second as a clever passage of play resulted in the ball into the path of an on-rushing Muhd Hanif Farhan bin Azman, but the left back placed his header over the bar.

It was a foreign-inspired move that led to the leveller in the second half as Abiodun Fatai Babatunde delivered a precise ball into the box before Leon Sullivan Taylor dispatched a fine low finish past goalkeeper Wardun bin Yussof.

Brunei substitute Abdul Azizi bin Ali Rahman tried to squeeze his shot into the bottom corner but the BSL All Stars goalkeeper Azman Ilham bin Haji Md Noor was equal to the task tipping the ball away to safety.

Azizi’s fierce shot took a deflection off substitute Reduan bin Haji Petara who was fortunate to see the ball land wide off the post.

The national team stepped up the pressure as Hendra Azam bin Mohd Idris saw an attempt crash against the bar before the ensuing rebound from Azizi flew agonisingly wide.

Brunei’s Muhd Hariz Danial bin Haji Khallidden nearly found the winner in the dying moments of the game but his goal-bound effort was cleared off the line by Samuel Kojo Abbey.

The clash against a Brunei Super League all-star team was their second friendly match in a space of a few days after coming off a 4-0 victory against Kasuka FC last weekend.
