DPMM FC made back-to-back victories in double-digits in the Brunei Super League (BSL) after beating Rimba Star FC 15-0 at the Jerudong Park Mini Stadium in Jerudong last night.

The breakthrough finally arrived as Azwan Ali Rahman initiated the attacking threat after slipping a pass into the advancing Fakharrazi Hassan.

The midfielder, who returned to the senior fold following a spell with the ‘B’ team in the pandemic-interrupted season last year, supplied a decent cross into the box for Andrei Varankou to plant a header into the net.

Hakeme Yazid bin Said partnered Varankou up front and he was nearly credited with an assist after playing a forward pass, with the Belarussian hitting the side-netting as he retrieved the ball.

The hosts ramped up the pressure as Varankou rifled wide with the Rimba Star’s defence found back-pedalling.

The ‘Gegar Gegar men’ extended their lead as Fakharrazi powered his header home after connecting from a Najib Tarif’s pinpoint cross.

Azwan Ali had a sniff in goal after stealing possession but his effort drifted wide. However, he was not to be denied as he coolly placed his low shot home after being picked out by the Belarussian striker.

Hakeme Yazid bin Said then saw a snapshot crash against the woodwork before the Rimba Star defence came to the aid with a fourth goal looking likely.

Hanif Farhan guided the ball into the empty net after benefitting from a howler from the Rimba Star goalkeeper Syafie Fakhrusy Anaqi with Azwan Ali’s again heavily involved in another goal.

Meanwhile, other matches saw Kota Ranger FC run riot in a 9-1 victory over Bakes FC to consolidate top spot while Kasuka FC similarly continued their unbeaten start with a handsome 4-0 win over BSRC FC.

Kota Ranger’s Faturrahman Embran and Babatunde bagged hat-tricks with the rest of the goals coming from Hazmi Salleh, Suffian Adanan and Adi Said.

Hanafizal Helman scored a 43rd minute penalty for Bakes FC which proved to be a mere consolation.

Taylor Leon Sullivan scored a hat-trick in consecutive matches to ensure Kasuka stay perfect with Maududi Hilmi Kasmi also on the score-sheet. Fresh from a stunning 1-1 draw against MS ABDB in midweek, KB FC evoked dramatic scenes after substitute Melvin Nyambong scored a late winner in the 2-1 victory against Setia Perdana at the Arena Field in Seria.

The Belait-based side drew level through Jazimin Arbi three minutes after Rahimni Pundat had given the visitors a ninth minute lead.

Elsewhere at the Berakas Sports Complex, MS PPDB eased to a 4-0 victory over Panchor Murai FC with their star player Azim Rashid among the goals. Naim Tarif, Fakhril Tamimi and Hafiz Ahmad were also on target.
