Najip FC cash in on BIBD FC slip ups

Wednesday, January 4, 2012
NAJIP FC started their new year campaign on a strong note, as they defeated BIBD FC 3-2 in their DST National league Group A match up at the Balapan Sports Complex last night.

Najip FC started the game confidently and for good reason.

They quickly broke the deadlock in just the 5th minute of the match, courtesy of a goal from Md Ali Shofian Hj Akbar.

Possession wise, it was BIBD FC who controlled the game, but solid defence and a counter attack approach to the game proved effective for Najip FC.

Nonetheless, Ak Md Khairul equalised for BIBD FC in the 12th minute

Both teams played pretty much evenly by this time, lady luck would however stand on Najip FC's side.

Md Ali Shofian would scored his second goal of the game with a delightful diving header in the 37th minute to once again put his team ahead.

The second half started with BIBD FC once again asserting control on possession of the game, but rigid defending from Najip FC prevented BIBD from breaking their defensive line.

BIBD FC were left stunned in the 69th minute, when Najip FC's Hj Arip Hj Idup scored a scorching long range goal from some 30 metres outside the penalty box.

The bankers, however, received a new light of hope when a rare defensive slip from Najip FC enabled Ak Md Khairul Anwar to score his second goal in the 82nd minute of the game.

It was also his fifth goal of the season.

Caught under pressure, BIBD FC overload on their attack in the last ten minutes of the game, but luck was not be on their side as they missed a golden opportunity in the dying minutes of the game when Ak Md Khairul Anwar shot the ball wide above the goal.

BIBD will be left disappointed with the score, but judging from their performance last night, they still look like strong contenders to qualify for the prestigious DST Super League.

RBA FC will take on Besa FC on Friday at the Berakas Sports Complex while Perkasa will look to impress Setia Perdana on the same day at the Balapan Track and Field.

Both games are scheduled to kick off at 4pm.
