NAJIP FC are raring to face Jerudong FC in the DST Super League at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas this afternoon.
Despite being labelled the underdogs, Najip FC manager Mohd Najip Moktal said that his team are looking to come away with maximum pooints from the match to improve on their overall rankings.
"After the careless loss we experienced last week in our match against LLRC FT, we need to win all three points in order to place better in the tournament and we will try to do so in our match (today)." he told The Brunei Times last night.
The manager's optimistic ambitions did not blind him however of Jerudong FC's prowess on the field.
"I have seen how they play and their superior field experience compared to us in terms of competitive play will serve them well." said Mohd Najip Moktal.
He added that despite alot of his team's best players falling ill, Najip FC are ready to move up the tournament ladder.
Jerudong FC coach Ali Rashid, on the other hand, is confident that their victory is in the bag.
"I think we can win and play better than our previous performance against Majra FC." he said.
"We understand that they (Najip FC) are also a team to be reckoned with, based on the information gathered from our old players, but I believe we can overcome them." he said.
Jerudong FC currently sit on fifth in the table with one point while Najip FC are ninth on zero points.
Asked if this impacted his team in any way, coach Ali Rashid replied that it was incentive for the team to do better.
"It motivates us, Najip FC are good but we have better knowledge and experience on the field and we are going to prove that in our match."
